It’s been a couple of years since we last featured Melbourne electronic duo Kllo, and so we’re pleased to welcome back cousins Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam back to the fold with the fascinating new track ‘Still Here’. Kllo really pushes the bounds of what we’d class as dance music. The patterned electronics, which fade in and out to allow for greater intensity of Kaul’s glassine vocals, are reminiscent of the nearly untouchable Jamie xx. This track is far from mindless beats for hedonistic brains, these blissful samples, loops and chops encourage a moment of serenity in which we could connect with the reassuring lyrics or allow our thoughts to wander onto what’s consuming our lives right now. If you’re a visual kind of person, you’ll also adore the music video, shot on 16mm in Perth. Directed by Matt Sav, it’s compiled of experimental shots, aesthetic pauses and gratifying symbolism, all while telling a captivating story.
